St. Paul and its Japanese sister city have struck an agreement on a college student exchange program.
Metropolitan State University students will be invited to Nagasaki University for a two-week summer seminar on the environment or to study in a given subject area for a semester or full year.
Metro State will accept an equal number of students from the Japanese university.
The St. Paul university says the agreement is a product of a visit its former interim president, Devinder Malhotra, made to Nagasaki in 2015 along with Mayor Chris Coleman.
St. Paul and Nagasaki have engaged in cultural exchanges as sister cities since 1955.
