Two people were injured in New Brighton on Friday afternoon when a school bus collided head-on with a passenger minivan.
According to the New Brighton Department of Public Safety, the collision occurred at about 4 p.m. in the 400 block of West County Road D near Interstate 35W.
The driver of the minivan was extricated and taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. There was no immediate information about the person’s condition.
The bus was carrying 21 students from Mounds View High School, and one was transported to a local hospital with injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening.
Other students were relocated to an adjacent office building to escape the frigid temperatures. They were either picked up by their parents or transported on another school bus. Mounds View school district staff also went to the scene to assist the students.
The Minnesota State Patrol responded to the collision and will complete an investigation.
