Stillwater school officials hold out hope the district will be able to avoid bus delays and cancellations after its contracted bus company has found replacement drivers to deal with an anticipated shortage next week.
Earlier this week Stillwater Area Public Schools warned parents to expect bus delays and canceled routes next week and urged them to make alternative transportation plans. Its busing company, the Metropolitan Transportation Network was expecting a shortage of drivers. School is in session Monday to Wednesday before letting out for the holidays.
The company later said it has found 20 replacement drivers, mostly from other school districts that have opted to close their buildings next week. It does not anticipate any disruptions to the Stillwater service.
The district on Wednesday updated families and said be on the watch for any notifications should any problems occur.
