University of Minnesota President Eric Kaler will chair the NCAA Division I board of directors for the next two years.

The 24-member legislative body conducts the day-to-day business of the highest level of intercollegiate athletics, with 345 member colleges and universities.
Kaler has been the lone Big Ten representative on the 20-member NCAA board of directors, the group’s highest governing body.
“I look forward to this new role and the opportunity to provide leadership to the division as we navigate the constantly changing landscape,” Kaler said in a news release. “As we do, our focus will remain on ensuring the well-being of student-athletes at all institutions.”
