Applications are due March 9 for a short-term appointment to the St. Paul school board.
Steve Marchese attended his last board meeting Tuesday before resigning to take a job in Seattle. He announced the planned move in early January.
The six remaining board members plan to interview as many as 12 candidates during a special March 16 meeting to fill Marchese’s seat. They’ll vote to fill the vacancy after those interviews.
Applicants should send a letter of interest and resume to assistant board clerk Sarah Dahlke by 5 p.m. March 9. The materials can be emailed to sarah.dahlke@spps.org or mailed to 360 Colborne St.
The appointee will join the board in mid-April, unless a large number of eligible voters contests the appointment.
That person will serve until a special election is held Nov. 2, when voters will decide who fills Marchese’s seat through 2023 while also electing three more members to full, four-year terms.
The filing deadline for the November election is Aug. 10.
