Residents of the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale school district will again be asked to approve a tax hike. They haven’t said yes since 2002.
The referendum question, approved by the school board in late June, will appear on the Nov. 8 ballot. It asks for $630 more per student and would cost the owner of the district’s average home, valued at $190,000, about $16 a month.
The request is two-thirds of what was asked for — and rejected — last fall.
Superintendent Christine Osorio told the board the current levy is at the bottom of the 20 largest metro area school districts.
