Alan Page, the retired Minnesota Viking and Supreme Court associate justice, is getting his name on a second Twin Cities school.
The North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale school board voted this week to name a new Maplewood elementary for Page.
Justice Alan Page Elementary School is set to open in September 2022 on the site of the current Maplewood Middle School.
“Justice Page has been a friend to District 622 and a supporter to many of our alumni and staff of color in their pursuit of higher education. His legacy will have a positive impact on our school community for generations to come,” Superintendent Christine Tucci Osorio said in a statement.
A naming committee made the selection from 85 community suggestions.
Minneapolis Public Schools in 2017 dropped Gov. Alexander Ramsey’s name from a school now called Justice Page Middle School.
