Applications are open for four seats on the University of Minnesota Board of Regents.
The deadline to apply to the Regent Candidate Advisory Council is Dec. 4.
The council will interview candidates in January and forward its favorites to a joint legislative committee, which will present its own recommendations to the full Legislature for final votes.
The board has 12 seats — one from each of the state’s congressional districts and four at-large positions. Due up for election next year are seats from the:
- 1st district, now held by Worthington’s Randy Simonson, who took over when Patricia Simmons resigned in 2018.
- 4th district, held since 2009 by Richard Beeson of St. Paul.
- 6th district, held since 2015 by Thomas Anderson of Alexandria.
- 7th district, held since 2015 by Michael Hsu of Blaine.
The positions are unpaid. Application materials can be found at rcac.leg.mn.
