As the St. Paul school district begins reopening its schools next week, the school board will resume meeting in person, as well.
Some board members will be in the room together Tuesday night for the board’s monthly formal meeting at 360 Colborne St., with others still participating remotely.
“As SPPS implements the first stage of hybrid learning for our students and staff, we believe the Board of Education should model this movement by also transitioning our board meetings,” board chairwoman Jeanelle Foster said Friday in a prepared statement.
There will be limited seating for the public by reservation only. Contact board secretary Sarah Dahlke at 612-434-1105 or email sarah.dahlke@spps.org to save a seat.
Visitors will get a brief health screening and must wear a face covering and keep their distance from other people.
The board continues to solicit public comment by phone, email or the board website.
Live, in-person comments will not be allowed.
Video of the meetings still will be streamed live on the district website. The board’s less formal meetings will continue to be held remotely.
The board has been meeting by videoconference since March 19 because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The district affirmed Friday that some 500 special-education students will be invited back for in-person instruction and services on Monday. Officials will reconsider next week whether some or all elementary students can return two days a week starting Nov. 16.
