The University of Minnesota has announced a $15 million donation that will help low-income students at all five campuses.
The Bentson Foundation, started by the late broadcasting executive Larry Bentson and his wife Nancy, now have given more than $50 million to the U.
The new money is intended to help Pell Grant-eligible students pay for non-tuition costs, such as housing, fees and textbooks. First-year and transfer students can renew the scholarship each year until they earn a bachelor’s degree.
The gift also features incentive funding for other donors to create endowments for the same students.
