Bethel University President Jay Barnes announced Thursday he will leave the job after one more year.

Barnes was Bethel’s provost before taking over for retiring president George Brushaber in 2008.
A school announcement Thursday highlighted Barnes’ progress in enrolling more students of color and people with disabilities.
Over the last year, he’s worked to address a shortfall in the school’s budget. Measures taken include the planned closure of Bethel’s seminary campus in San Diego.
Bethel, located in Arden Hills, has not said how it will go about hiring Barnes’ successor.
